Nether Green Infant School PTA meeting held a= t Nether Green Infant School, Stumperlowe Park Road, Thursday 2nd November 2006, 7.45pm.

 

Present: Cathy Farmer (Chair), Justine Phillips (Vice-Chair), Bridget Ball (Head), Sarah Furniss, Barbara God= frey, Cinnamon Hodgson, Leila Prescott (minutes), Julie Wood.

Calendar News

 

Helen progressing well with the calendars. Pictures = will be in by Wed 8th Nov. Price agreed: £3.50. Help required assembling calendars. Justine offered her house – 15 Clarendon Rd. - for an evening assembling calendars and general preparation for the Xmas Fair – Tuesday 28th November, 8pm.

 

Teatowels and cards are = other possible fundraising options involving the children’s pictures. To = be discussed further at future meetings.

 

It was agreed that a class exercise book with a cover illustrated by the children was a good idea and a price of 50p was propos= ed and agreed.

(ii) Making and distrib= uting tickets

Ticket books to go out in book bags by Fri 17th= Nov.

Tickets printed and in the Office ready for assembly= into 6-ticket booklets by Mon 13th Nov.

 

  • Santa

Price agreed: £2.50, to include Polaroid photo= (if wanted) and present.

System proposed for regulating demand: desk in foyer= will provide people with a 2 minute slot within a 10 minute time window on arr= ival at the Fair. It was suggested that colouring-= in outlines of presents and drawing materials be provided (in the queue?) for children while they wait. This was agreed. Cathy volunteered Rob to make these.

 

  • Food

Food agreed: hot roast pork sandwiches / cheese & olive/grape sandwiches (V). Mince pies, cakes and drinks. Sandwich boxes for children: £1.50. Teaching staff to serve food as usual. Justine offered to cook the pork at her house and will ask Judi for advic= e. Pleasant memories of Kate’s homemade non-alcoholic mulled wine (exclusive to PTA helpers last year) led to the suggestion that we should= get the recipe, perhaps with a view for serving more widely to the public?

 

  • Letter to Juniors

At the Summer Fair there were no juniors to help wit= h the craft activities. It was resolved that this should not happen again and t= hat a firm arrangement should be made in advance.

 

 

  • Preparation evening (wrapping, calendar assembly etc)

Justine kindly offered her house as a venue (see ite= m 3 above for details).

 

  • Requesting volunteers

It was agreed that the stalls vo= lunteers board should go up in school on Monday 20th Nov.

 

  • PTA Xmas Fair newsletter

Justine suggested that perhaps a separate bookbag mailing should go out to inform parents abo= ut the system for Santa and that entry to the Fair will be by donation. Other in= fo (such as requests for cakes, secondhand books & toys etc.) could be included here too.

Autumn Disco

 

With Barney Baloney. Thursday 23rd Novemb= er, 5.30-7pm.

 

Some people were unhappy with the departure arrangem= ents from the disco, feeling the current system to be unsafe. It was suggested that the distribution of chocolate coins to children in their departure groups would make it easier to regulate.

 

Anoushka’s mum has volunteered to be in charge at the disco.

Request for helpers to go in newsletter.

Educational visits into school

 

Cathy offered PTA funding to pay groups from outside school to come in and provide educational workshops. Bridget and the group agreed that this would be a good use of PTA money.

PTA Christmas meal

 

Thurs 7th Dec, 8pm, Café Uno

Orders must be pre-booked a week before. See Justine= for menu.

AOB

(i)   = ;            &n= bsp;  Summer Ball

Cheryl sent a note outlining her enquiries into venu= es and costs for a possible PTA Summer Ball. It was proposed that we should go a= head with the idea, but it needs an organiser. Tic= ket price proposed: £60 for 2 people.

 

(ii)  Second-hand school uniform stall at the X= mas Fair

Justine suggested this and it was agreed to be a good idea.

 

(iii)  Funding for Contact Bracelets

Bridget asked if the PTA would consider funding cont= act bracelets for use on school outings as a safeguard against children getti= ng lost. Cost: £130 (+VAT) for 75 bracelets. The PTA agreed.

 

(iv)  Funding for new Nativity Play costumes. <= /p>

The PTA agreed to provide money to buy materials.

 

(v)  Paint for Base 1 toilets

The School Council’s request for paint that we= nt out in the newsletter did not achieve a good response. Bridget thinks that the PTA might shortly receive a letter from the School Council asking for mon= ey for paint. We are looking forward to receiving it!

 

(vi)  Baby changing facilities at school.

Julie highlighted the lack of these. Julie offered to donate a changing mat which will be situated in the Medical Room.

 

(vii) Thanks to the PTA f= or refreshments at the Open Day.

 

(viii) Personal shopper / makeover fundraiser.

Barbara suggested this and it was agreed to be a goo= d idea for spring /summer.
