Eco Week
Next week is our Eco We=
ek
in school – the children will be taking part in a variety of eco
activities within the theme of: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE.
We hope that you will g=
et
involved too! During the week we hope to recycle many things which you may =
have
lying around at home and therefore ask your child to bring in: cardboard bo=
xes,
used (clean) food containers e.g. yoghurt pots, bubble wrap, plastic contai=
ners,
corks, newspapers, cardboard tubes, empty food packets e.g. crisps.
By the end of the week =
we
intend to devise our own School Eco code for us all to follow so you may wa=
nt
to talk to your child about that. On Friday 7th March (last day =
of
the Eco Week) we are opening the school in the afternoon to parents for our=
Eco
Fair. This will be an opportunity to come into school to see and join in so=
me
of our activities as well as find out more about what you can do at home. O=
ur
newly designed Eco Bag will be on sale at our Fair too.
Friday will also be our
Green and Flowery Friday when children are invited to come to school in gre=
en
or flowers or both rather than in our uniform. We ask for a donation of
£1 for this special day – all funds going towards the new garde=
n.
Thank you.
It doesn’t stop
there! On Saturday and Sunday (8th and 9th March) our=
new
school garden will begin its makeover. The school will be open all weekend =
to
any parents who can pop in and help to dig, chop, move, carry etc etc. The
organisers have planned a variety of tasks as well as to provide breakfast,
coffee, lunch etc. So there is a job for everyone and everyone is invited.
Please look at the signing up sheets next to the Garden display in the hall=
or
leave a message at the office.
Thank you for all the 2
litre plastic bottles – we have filled up 2 wheelie bags already R=
11;
keep them coming in please.
If you think you may be
able to contribute something for our garden – please look at the disp=
lay
in the hall as we have a wish list there. Thank you.
The garden will be used=
by every child in school as an exten=
sion
of the playground at playtimes and as a marvellous curriculum resource duri=
ng
lessons. So it is important we do our best to create an exciting place and =
with
your help we can do that. Thank you.
Y2 Choir
Well done to our Y2 choir for their fantastic sing=
ing
last Saturday. They sang songs in the Children’s Concert for Home Sta=
rt,
Sheffield, at St. John’s Church, Ranmoor. It was marvellous to see the
children enjoying singing to such a big audience – we look forward to
singing again soon. Thank you to all the families who came along and suppor=
ted
the concert and to all those parents who were able to help during rehearsal=
–
you all helped to make it such a lovely event.
Vouchers
We are collecting Sainsbury’s Sports vouchers
and Tesco Computer vouchers in school – if you have any please pop th=
em
in the boxes in the entrance. Thank you.

PTA News
Coffee Morning
The next PTA coffee morning is to be held on Thurs=
day
6th March 2008. This is an opportunity for parents and carers to
have a chat over a cuppa rather than the quick 5 minutes you get when dropp=
ing
the children off in their classroom. It is held in the school entrance area=
at
8.50am, straight after drop off. Tea, coffee, soft drinks, biscuits,
breadsticks and grapes are all provided free of charge so you don’t n=
eed
your purse! Pre-school children are also very welcome.
Cake Sale
Ther=
e will
be a PTA Cake Sale on Wednesday 12th March 2008. This is a
fundraiser to enable the PTA to purchase ‘extra’ items for the
school that will benefit our children. Any donations of cakes, buns and
biscuits would be gratefully received and can be brought to the Art Room fr=
om
8.30am on the morning of Wednesday 12th March. Children are invi=
ted
to purchase cakes during the afternoon. If you would like your child to
participate we ask that you put 20 pence in your child’s book bag on =
that
morning. We invite parents to purchase any remaining cakes after school from
3pm. If you would like to donate any baking but are unable to get into scho=
ol
on the morning, cakes can also be dropped off at 2.45pm before school pick =
up.
We really appreciate your support. If anyone wishes to help please contact =
Di,
Mum of Bailey Cole, in Mrs Wigley’s class. The whiteboard will be in =
the
hall the week before the sale for anyone wishing to volunteer to help. Thank
you.
Mother’s Day Gift
Wrapping
The PTA raised £78 from the Mother’s D=
ay
gift wrapping event. Thank you for your support.
